What is the Chamber of Commerce?

The Byhalia Area Chamber of Commerce (BACC) means leadership, promotion, networking, teamwork, education, jobs, communication, opportunities, profit and relationships. We are a member business organization for the betterment of economic and community development. The BACC attracts business and residents to the Byhalia area to work, live and visit.

Our Body of Work

The Chamber works through the enactment of four main initiatives

This group works in the community by serving as an advisory board to the City Council on projects to beautify our area. They help identify projects and establish and implement priorities. Past projects have included the distribution of Dogwood Trees and Crepe Myrtles, landscaping at various intersections, welcome signs, and the clean-up of sites throughout the area.

The Education Committee exists to support education efforts in Marshall County. The program recognizes students and educators for outstanding achievements inside and outside the classroom. The Chamber awards annual scholarships to graduating seniors and teacher stipends throughout the county.

This committee is actually made up of several smaller sub-committees and coordinates such events as: Chamber Celebration, the Membership Drive, Sounds of Summer, White Oak Classic Golf Tournament, and other special events throughout the year.

Efforts to redevelop Byhalia's historic business/residential district is the goal of this group through positive attitude activity, cleanliness, safety, political unity and architectural integrity.  New events such as Old Fashioned Market Days and Holiday Tours will bring positive activity downtown.

“We are excited about our Town’s growth, new businesses are moving here and things are happening, just because our community got involved with “One More Piece of the Plan”. ”

— Mayor Phil Malone, from “One More Piece of the Plan”
